Prom 2013

PROM
I always enjoy prom.  So much glitz and glam.  Amazing dresses and tuxedo's. It is all such a blast and so much fun for a florist. I get to use many elements that are not for everyday and so much fun. Feathers, rhinestones, beads, bracelets that are just gorgeous.  Oh, I love it all.  This is the first installment of prom flowers with several more to come.  I was just going to do one but I just couldn't pick a favorite out of all of the great photos I have and besides you can never see to many pictures of flowers.  At least I can't so sit take a minute and enjoy the first post of Prom 2013.

Pretty in Pink

It has been awhile so we have a lot of catching up to do.  The 2012 wedding season is winding down so I am going to try to catch up on all of the beautiful couples that let us be a part of their amazing day.  I have some of the pro shots from some of the talented  photographers that I have worked with this summer and I will be sharing those along with some of my own.  And as soon as the professional shots come in I will post those because if your like me you never get tired of looking at beautiful wedding photos.

Vintage, the look of dating from the past.

Here are some photos from a vintage wedding from this summer. Pink is such a great color and pink ranunculus are amazing. Photos by Justin Salem Meyer Photography.

Beautiful Brides Bouquet of white roses, white china mums, scabiosa pods, pink carnations, mini antique carnations, queen annes lace, dark pink ranunculus.
Scabiosa Pods and Queen Anne's Lace combined with Ranunculus and White China Mums. What's not to love. The Pink Carnations are not to be overlooked.  Carnations are so versatile and colorful. They are floral tutu's and when you mix them with some of the more premium flowers you can't go wrong using them.

Lovely Yellow

Photos are courtesy of JPMains Photography in Ames. Beautiful !
Once in awhile, right in the middle of an ordinary life, love gives us a fairy tale. -Author unknown
For this dreamy, sweet, mellow yellow wedding we used pink hydrangeas, yellow dahlias, cafe au lait dahlias, two tones of yellow roses and pink majolica spray roses, snap dragons and carnations. The morning that I picked up the flowers for Megans wedding the warehouse had just gotten in sweet peas. I couldn't resist. They really needed to go to a wedding and Megan was the perfect bride for these delicate blooms.
Congratulations Megan and John. I enjoyed working with you . I pray for many blessings on your life together and for a bright and shiny future as you move ahead in your life together.

The Look Of Love

Romantic flowers are hot, hot, hot this wedding season. Full, round, lush these are all words that describe romantic flowers. What are some of those flowers types? A name that often comes up and many brides have in pictures of bouquets that they like are peonies, pronounced pee-0-nees. Just look at them. Large wavy petals, full round flower heads and soft feminine color that becomes more concentrated at the base. I love peonies of all colors but especially love the Sarah Bernhardts.

Peonie season is not lengthy but peonies can be found through July but be prepared to pay a hefty price. But if you love this flower you might say it is worth it. Truly a romantic flower in my book.
