Dane and Madelyn's Winter Wedding

Love!!
Winter in Iowa is not the season most people would choose to get married.  Often the weather is unpredictable and taking outdoor pictures to use the beautiful natural light can be a little chilly. Brrr!!

But I am seeing more and more winter weddings in the midwest.  Couples are choosing to embrace the season and use the beauty of the winter season to there advantage and the pictures from Dane and Madelyn's wedding are proof that it works.  I wonder if the fact that venues are filling up so far in advance has been a factor in seeing more winter weddings here in the heartland.

Dane and Maddie were married on a beautiful winter day in January.  There first meet and photos were taken at the historic and warm setting of the Rollins Mansion.  Expressions Photography took all of these sweet and beautiful photos that I am sharing.

Enjoy!!

See what I mean about pictures outside in the winter.  Awesome

For Maddies bouquet we used white Anemones with black centers, white garden roses, white roses, pink majolicas spray roses, winter greens and pine cones.

What is more seasonal than pine cones.

Love this photo.  Thank you Expressions Photography

And this!!

Bridesmaids bouquets were White Hydrangea, White Roses, Pink Majolica Spray Roses White Anemones (with their cute black centers), Brunia, Dusty Miller, Evergreen and of course Pine Cones.

Sweet details for the bridesmaids shawls and gloves.

Maddie chose to have several different centerpieces that all had the same theme. Here she used wood slices, lanterns and dried hydrangea flowers.  And chocolates, YUM!

Some of the tables had these centerpieces with a trio of cylinder vases filled with White Hydrangea, Pine Cones and candles set in epsom salt for a snow effect.

Another centerpiece option.  So much warmth with the candles, wood and pine cones.

Love lanterns for any season

More candles and wood slices

Joe and Millie

Yes I know there is not a single flower in this picture but I just had to use it.  Isn't it adorable.  Love it.

I love this picture

Polo Roses, Pink Majolica Roses, Pink Stock and Craspedia.

Millie called me with a special request for her bridal bouquet.  The Bible that you see pictured above is a family bible that has been carried by many of the brides in her family.  She wanted to carry on that tradition.  Most often a heirloom like this is held flat and the flowers are placed on top of the bible.  But Millie wanted a round hand tied bouquet and asked if I could think of a creative way to include their family Bible in a round bouquet and the picture above shows how it worked out.  Beautiful Polo Roses, Pink Stock, Pink Majolica Roses and Craspedia. The lace and the button were elements that she used in her bridesmaids bouquets which she made out of fabric flowers.  I incorporated them with the bible to help cover the mechanics that held the bible in the bouquet.

Photos in the rain are so sweet.

This is the expression that you want to see on a brides face when she first sees her bouquet.  Day made!!

Such cute centerpieces.  Millie did these herself but I couldn't resist showing you a picture of them.
