Jessica and Rolando

All Photos Courtesy of Katharyne Dunn Photography

Blogging has been a little slow lately I know!  But I have been getting photos in from the proffessional photographers from summer of 2012's weddings and they are fantastic.

Jessica and Rolando held their ceremony and reception at the Hotel Pattee in Perry, IA.  This was the first time that I had a chance to really look at some of the beautiful rooms and suites in the hotel.  It was such a treat.  They are each individually decorated according to a theme that each room is given.  So much fun. You can take a tour of the hotel and see many of the beautiful rooms here, http://www.hotelpattee.com/
The day of Jessica and Rolandos wedding was a scorcher, a stark contrast the the weather the day we meet for our first consultation when it was freezing and snowing.
The bridesmaids and groomsman all had dark purple calla lillies and for Jessica we added the purple phaleonopsis orchids.
And speaking of photos, I love these photos by Katharyne Dunn.  Beautiful work Katharyne. Thank you for sharing your work with me. You can find Katharyne on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/KatharyneDunnPhotography

Downton Abbey Inspires

Lady Mary Crawley

(I adore this photo)

I am crazy about Downton Abbey.  I must confess that I didn't start watching until just this last 6 mo.  I heard all the buzz and decided to see what everyone was carrying on about.  I downloaded season one and started watching.  By episode 3 I had downloaded season 2 and in 3 weeks I had finished them and was anxiously awaiting the start of season 3 and of course the wedding of Matthew and Mary.

I was not at all disappointed.  Watching Mary come down the grand staircase in her dress softly flowing around her and her veil trailing behind her, it was beautiful.  In her arms an understated arm bouquet of white calla lilies.

                                                      Some Lady Mary inspired gowns.

Flowers that would be perfect for the modern Lady Mary.  Loose, lovely, dimensional and somewhat unpredictable unlike the more traditional perfectly rounded bouquet.  Flowers that can sway and move like the lighter fabrics like the gowns and complimenting the extravagant bead work.  And just like Lady Mary, white calla lilies have never gone out of style in my book.  A few in the arm and some soft flowing greenery.
